  • Greg Soriano was one of the top fencers NCE/NJIT history
  • Coached by legendary Paul Hausser, Soriano’s career began in 1968-69. 
  • In his inaugural campaign, he placed second in the New Jersey Intercollegiate Championships and second in the NAIA Eastern Collegiate Championships. 
  • Teaming with John Gardner, he won the saber team championship at the NAIA Eastern Championships, qualifying them for the NAIA Nationals 
  • As a sophomore, Soriano won the New Jersey Intercollegiate Championship as well as the winning the saber competition in the NAIA Eastern Championship qualifying for his second consecutive NAIA national tournament
  • Soriano was a finalist for the United States team for the World University Games
  • His  junior year he finished fourth in the New Jersey Championships and was second in the NAIA Eastern Championships
  • Teaming with Pete Messina, he captured his second career NAIA Eastern saber team championship
  • As a senior, he finished second in the individual NAIA Eastern Championship and again won the team saber championship
  • That season, he finished in the top three at the national tournament, qualifying for the 1972 Olympic team.
  • Soriano was named the team MVP for the 1970-71 season.
  • Over his four year career, he helped the Highlanders to a 34-14 record in dual meet competitions
  • The 11-1 in his senior year marked the fewest losses with more than 10 victories in the history of a program that began in 1935-36
