Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium ushered in a new era for NJIT Highlander Athletics with its completion in Fall 2019, providing the university with a premier outdoor multipurpose venue in the heart of campus.

Serving as the home for NJIT men’s and women’s soccer and men’s lacrosse, the state-of-the-art facility represents a major investment in the student-athlete experience and campus community.

Paired with the adjacent Wellness and Events Center, the venue gives NJIT one of the most modern and comprehensive athletic complexes in the Northeast. The facility marked the return of Highlander teams to on-campus competition for the first time since November 7, 2015, with the NJIT women’s soccer team hosting the inaugural match on August 22, 2019 against UMBC.

Designed to enhance both competition and fan experience, Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium features FieldTurf’s innovative CORE playing surface — the world’s first multi-layer dual-polymer fiber sports turf system. Engineered to replicate the feel and performance of natural grass, the CORE surface provides exceptional durability, resiliency, and player comfort while maintaining elite-level playability throughout the year.

The venue includes a dynamic digital videoboard capable of displaying live video, instant replays, player headshots, graphics, animations, and in-game statistics, creating a true Division I atmosphere for fans and student-athletes alike. Additional amenities include a modern scoreboard, Musco LED sports lighting system, and premium field-level spectator seating that brings fans closer to the action.

Built to meet NCAA broadcast standards, the facility is equipped to host championship-level competition and potential NCAA Regional events. An enclosed press box overlooking the field provides high-speed internet access and dedicated seating for media, television, and radio broadcasters.

Athletic training facilities and team locker rooms are conveniently located inside the neighboring Wellness and Events Center, which opened in 2017 and serves as the central hub for NJIT Athletics and campus recreation.

Beyond varsity competition, Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium serves the entire NJIT community through intramural sports, club programs, campus events, and recreational activities, making it one of the university’s most active and versatile gathering spaces.
