Last Game Rewind
The NJIT men's basketball team was defeated 65-54 by visiting Jacksonville on Saturday at the Wellness and Events Center.
The loss was the third straight for NJIT (7-16, 4-6 ASUN), while the Dolphins (12-14, 5-6 ASUN) bounced back after a loss to Liberty on Thursday.
"I was once again proud of the way we battled back in the second half," explained Head Coach
Brian Kennedy. "But unfortunately, we missed a lot of shots throughout the game and found ourselves in the familiar situation of being down in the second half. Credit goes to Jacksonville though, they were great defensively, especially on the perimeter."
All-Time Series
Thursday's meeting is the 12th all-time between the Highlanders and Bisons, with the previous 11 coming in ASUN action over the last four years. Libscomb leads the all-time series 8-3. The Bisons swept last season's regular season series and defeated the Highlanders in the ASUN Tournament Semifinals, but NJIT won the most recent matchup last month in Newark.
Last Three Meetings:

3/7/19: Lipscomb 78, NJIT 55 -- Nashville, TN
2/25/19: Libscomb 81, UNF 77 -- Nashville, TN
Last Time Out vs. Lipscomb
Newark, NJ - The NJIT men's basketball team used a true team effort to roll past visiting Lipscomb, 75-57, in front of a season-high 2,016 fans on Education Day at the Wellness and Events Center.
"I haven't heard it that loud in here in a while, the kids were awesome today," said Head Coach
Brian Kennedy. "There's no question that NJIT is a high-academic institution, and it was a great opportunity for local elementary and middle school students to see what college is all about and then finish the day off with a basketball game."
NJIT's win was its second-straight and the Highlanders are now 5-12 on the season and 2-2 in ASUN play, while Lipscomb dropped to 7-11 overall and 2-3 in ASUN action.
All five Highlanders' starters scored at least eight points and recorded at least three assists as NJIT shot 58.2% (32-of-55) from the field and dished out a season-high 22 assists, breaking their previous high of 17 in a November win vs. Wagner.
Georgia natives
Zach Cooks (24 points) and
San Antonio Brinson (17 points) carried the load offensively, while
Reilly Walsh (11 points),
Shyquan Gibbs (nine points) and
Souleymane Diakite (eight points) also chipped in. Gibbs and Walsh tallied five assists each, as Cooks and Brinson had four and Diakite finished with three helpers.
Scouting the Bisons
Libscomb won the ASUN Regular Season title last season and advanced to the NIT Championship game, but returns a new-look team this season.
Ahsan Asadullah and Michael Buckaland were each named to the ASUN Preseason All-Conference team. Asadullah leads the Bisons in scoring (16.9 ppg), rebounding (9.6 rpg) and assists (3.6 apg), while Buckland is one of three players averaging double figures in scoring (10.5 ppg).
Lipscomb is 10-14 overall this season and is 5-6 in ASUN action. The Bisons have won two in a row and three out of their last four.
