NEWARK, NJ – NJIT Men's Basketball Head Coach Grant Billmeier has announced the hiring of Daniel Waddleton Jr. as Director of Analytics/Video Coordinator on Thursday.

Daniel Waddleton Jr. enters his first season as an official member of the NJIT men's basketball staff, having been named Director of Analytics/Video Coordinator in July 2026.
 
Waddleton previously served as an intern with the Highlanders during their historic 2025-26 season, which included ten conference wins, the highest win total in program history, and a top-4 seed, hosting an America East quarterfinal game for the first time since joining the conference in 2020. Their 16 total wins on the season marked the most since 2018-19.
 
As an intern, Waddleton's responsibilities included keeping stats and film, supporting practice and operational tasks, developing analytics models, and producing videos for the team and recruiting.
 
Waddleton recently graduated from the University of South Carolina in December 2025, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Sports Management. During his time at South Carolina, he wrote for a basketball website, blending traditional basketball discourse with a focus on film study and data, as well as interned at Fox Sports in Los Angeles, California.
 
Waddleton is a native of Tinton Falls, New Jersey, and played varsity basketball for Monmouth Regional High School.

"As the game of basketball is evolving I thought it was important to add Danny to our staff and allow him to help our program with analytics," Coach Billmeier said. "Danny has a great basketball mind and is also a wizard when it comes to breaking down film. He comes from a basketball family and he will make a big impact every day he's with our program."
