Biography

2019-20: Academic All-ASUN...finished career with program-record 125 games played and started final 108 games of his career including all 30 as a senior...scored game-winning basket in final second at Cornell, a play which was ranked the #5 play of the day on SportsCenter Top 10...scored 10+ points 12 times, including a season-high 21 in an upset-victory at ASUN Regular Season Co-Champion North Florida...4-for-4 from 3FG range at Jacksonville...played 38+ minutes nine times, including all 40 minutes at St. Francis (NY), at Stetson, and at Liberty.

2018-19:
• Ranked 28th in ASUN in ppg (8.6), 17th in apg (2.2), 6th in ast/TO (2.0)
• Scored in double-figures in career-high 3 straight games twice: 11/14-20 (17.7 ppg); 11/28-12/4 (11.3 ppg)
• Has started 79 consecutive games since his first as a freshman against North Florida on Jan. 14, 2017

Shyquan Gibbs a graduate of St. Anthony’s High School in Jersey City, where he was coached by Bob Hurley, a 2010 inductee into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, will be the third St. Anthony alumnus on the Highlander roster, which features senior Tim Coleman and sophomore Mohamed Bendary. ...Gibbs, ranked among the top 25 New Jersey players in the Class of 2016 by NJHoops.com, led the Friars (26-0) to be ranked No.1 Boys High School basketball team in New Jersey and fourth-best in the nation, according to USA Today. ...as a junior, Gibbs helped the Friars to a 28-2 record and sixth consecutive NJSIAA Non-Public, North B Championship. ...Gibbs played for the Jersey City Boys Club on the AAU circuit.

Personal:
Shyquan Wanya Gibbs. ... son of Shelton and Elyse Gibbs... Shelton, a longtime boys basketball coach at Henry Snyder (NJ) H.S., is a member of the Saint Peter's (NJ) University Athletic Hall of Fame and still ranks fourth on the Peacocks' all-time career scoring list... Shyquan’s older brother, Shelton Jr., was a key player on St. Anthony’s 2004 undefeated team... Gibbs, who intends to major in business at NJIT, was named St. Anthony High School Valedictorian, News12 co-Scholar-Athlete of the Week (November 15, 2015) and recipient of the Investors Bank Academic Excellence Award.
