NEWARK, NJ - The NJIT men's basketball heads to Florida on Thursday when it takes on Jacksonville, with both squads in search of their first ASUN victory of the season.

In three wins this season, NJIT is averaging 14.0 apg as opposed to just 8.9 apg in its losses. The Highlanders dished out a season-high 17 assists vs. Wagner and 16 assists vs. Kean. Zach Cooks, Shyquan Gibbs and Souleymane Diakite are each averaging more than 2.0 apg, with Cooks leading the way at 2.4 apg. Gibbs' five assists vs. Wagner lead the team so far this season.

Diakite-Diakite:
Sophomore Souleymane Diakite has recorded three double-doubles in his last four games and his 12-point, 11-rebound, six block performance at UConn earned him ASUN Player of the Week honors. Diakite's six blocks at UConn were the most in a single game since Tim Coleman swatted six shots in 2014.

Thursday's meeting is the ninth all-time between the  Highlanders and Dolphins, with the previous eight coming in ASUN action the last four years. NJIT leads the series 5-3 and has won three straight. The last six games have all been decided by four or less and by an average of 2.5 points.

Scouting the Dolphins
Jacksonville, who was picked seventh of nine teams in the ASUN Preseason Coaches Poll, is off to a 7-9 start this season. 

The Dolphins are led by David Bell, who is averaging nearly a double-double with team best in scoring (11.1 ppg) and rebounding (9.5 rpg). Bell and his JU teammates currently lead the ASUN in rebounds per game (39.3), while ranking eighth in free throw percentage (65.3).

Jacksonville enters Thursday's game on a three-game losing streak.
