NEWARK, NJ – The NJIT men's basketball team opens the new year with its non-conference finale, hosting Medgar Evers College on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. inside the Wellness and Events Center.

Three Highlanders scored in double figures, led by
Sebastian Robinson's 16 points, but it was not enough as NJIT fell to Washington, 90-53, on Sunday afternoon.
Tim Moore Jr. finished the day with 14 points, including a perfect 4-for-4 clip from the floor in the second half.
Ari Fulton finished with a new season-best with 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting. The Highlanders were without the services of leading scorer
Tariq Francis, who missed the game with a right ankle injury.
NJIT vs. Medgar Evers: All-Time Series
This will be the second straight season in which the Highlanders and Cougars meet. Last season, NJIT won handily by a 127-51 final score. Since moving up from the Division III ranks prior to the 1997 season, the Highlanders are 26-0 against DIII schools.

- The Highlanders host Medgar Evers College to close out the non-conference portion of their schedule.
- NJIT and Medgar Evers meet for the second straight season, as the Highlanders cruised to a 127-51 victory over the Cougars inside the WEC.
- The Highlanders enter Saturday's contest having lost three straight, most recently falling out west at Washington last Sunday.
- Sebastian Robinson led NJIT in scoring against the Huskies, finishing with 16 points to lead a trio of double-digit scorers.
- Tim Moore Jr. and Ari Fulton both surpassed double digits in the points column as well against Washington, finishing with 14 points and 11 points, respectively.
- Moore has begun to hit his stride at the end of non-conference play, averaging 13.8 pts, 6.3 reb, 2.0 blks and shooting 56% from the field over his last four games.
- Moore had his best game as a Highlander at Delaware State on Dec. 11, scoring a team-best 20 points while adding seven rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
- NJIT picked up its second victory of the season back on Dec. 7, defeating Navy 69-64.
- Tariq Francis led the Highlanders with 23 points, overcoming a slow start to put up 17 points in the second half.
- Francis has surpassed the 20-point plateau in five of his last seven contests.
- NJIT ranks just outside the top-50 in the nation in blocks per game (56th; 4.5)
- Francis and Robinson have scored 20 points in the same game on two occasions this season, doing so against Penn (Nov. 4) and again in the win over Morehead State (Nov. 27).
- NJIT boasts a young roster, with 12 of its 14 members (86%) being either freshmen or sophomores, ranking the Highlanders fourth in the nation in that category.
- Only three players on NJIT's active roster entered this season with previous Division I experience (Francis, Lawal, Robinson).
