Men's Swimming and Diving Grabs More Medals, Remains Fourth After AEs Day 3

LEXINGTON, Va. — Day three of the America East Swimming and Diving Championships saw the NJIT men's swimming and diving team produce its highest medal count of the competition and maintain its fourth place positioning (328.50) heading into Saturday's finale.

DAY 3 HIGHLIGHTS

Freshman Francois Malherbe added another silver medal to his Championship haul, finishing as the runner-up in the 100 Fly with a time of 47.51 (17 pts).
Fellow newcomer Laith Sabbah joined Malherbe as Highlander individual medal winners after earning silver in the 200 Free with a time of 1:37.07 (17 pts).
NJIT's all-time leading America East medal holder Ian Horstkamp-Vinekar collected his second piece of hardware this meet and first as an individual with a second-place 100 Back swim of 48.44 (17 pts). Horstkamp-Vinekar has now earned 18 total AE medals over four years - ten relay and eight individual.

CLOSE CALLS

Horstkamp-Vinekar also finished the 100 Fly just outside of medal contention in a tie for fourth place, clocking in alongside Maine's Mark Crocker in 48.70 (14.50 pts).
Aiden Ban was close to medaling as well, placing fourth in 1 Meter Diving with a score of 245.45 (15 pts).
Another near miss came in the 400 Medley Relay as Horstkamp-Vinekar, Bartosz Bryg, Malherbe and Sabbah claimed fourth with a time of 3:16.90 (30 pts).

400 IM B Final: Ryan Hause (9th, 4:04.36; 9 pts) and Keegan Wooding (15th, 4:11.31; 2 pts)
400 IM C Final: Reilly Vann (17th, 4:11.71) and Michael McGillycuddy (19th, 4:15.68)
200 Free B Final: Zac Kuzak (11th, 1:40.84; 6 pts) and Oxford Bayley (15th, 1:43.74; 2 pts)
100 Breast B Final: Bartosz Bryg (13th, 57.00; 4 pts)
100 Breast C Final: Matthew Bevan (17th, 57.41) and Michael Schober (18th, 57.78)
