NEWARK, NJ - NJIT men's basketball Head Coach Grant Billmeier has announced the signing of Walt Andrews, the first member of the program's 2024 recruiting class. 

Andrews is a native of Bridgeport, CT, and currently attends Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia as a post-graduate student. 

"Walt is a physically imposing guard that can play both guard positions on the court," explained Billmeier. "He is a terrific athlete, an elite defender, and fits the way I want to play on both ends of the court."

Prior to enrolling at Hargrave, the 6'5, 215-pound Andrews attended Notre Dame West Haven, where he graduated last spring. Andrews was ranked among the Top 10 prospects in Connecticut as a senior at Notre Dame. 

"Walt will only get better after a year in the Hargrave system," added Billmeier. "We are extremely excited to bring Walt closer to home for his college journey."
