NEWARK, NJ– The NJIT men's basketball returns home on Wednesday to host UMBC in America East Conference action. 

Game Information
Tip-off is slated for 7pm inside the Wellness and Events Center on NJIT's campus in Newark. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Matt Provence providing play-by-play and Rob Kennedy serving as the color analyst.

Highlander Highlights
*   Wednesday's game is the 20th of the 2022-23 season -- which marks NJIT's 17th participating in Division I, third as a member of the America East and sixth in the Wellness & Events Center.
*    NJIT is 2-4 in America East action and three of the five six have come down to the final possesion of regulation. Two games needed an overtime period to decide the winner. 
*    Last Saturday's win over UAlbany was NJIT's first in 11 chances and the Highlanders now claim victories over every other America East institution. 
*    Raheim Sulivan and Mekhi Gray each dished out six assists with just one turnover last Thursday night at Bryant. As a team, NJIT had 17 assists in the game, which ranks tied for second in a game this season.
*    Miles Coleman (at Sacred Heart) and Adam Hess (at South Florida) each have games where they drained seven three-pointers, tying Bryant's Doug Edert for the second-most this season by an America East player. Charles Pride (Bryant) drained eight vs. UAlbany on Jan. 11.
*    Kevin Osawe leads NJIT with five double-double this season, which ranks tied for fourth this season in the America East.
*    Raheim Sullivan scored 23 points to lead NJIT at Vermont on Sunday. That mark ties his NCAA career-high which he established last season at Marist against American.
*    Adam Hess leads the America East in 3FG%, knocking down 43.9% this season (36-for-82).
*    Six of NJIT's 14 players have completed their undergraduate degrees and are working towards their Master's. Souleymane Diakite and Kjell de Graaf graduated from NJIT last May, while Justin Anderson (Bloomsburg), Adam Hess (E. New Mexico St.), Kevin Osawe (Arkansas-Little Rock), and Raheim Sullivan (Marist) come to NJIT from other institutions.

Last Time Out: Vermont 85, NJIT 69 | Sun. 1/22 in Burlington, VT
The NJIT men's basketball team was defeated 85-69 by host Vermont in America East Conference action on Sunday at Patrick Gymnasium.

Vermont, the preseason pick to win the conference, improved to 4-2 in league play, while NJIT's conference record now stands at 2-4.

Raheim Sullivan matched his collegiate career-high with 23 points on 9-for-12 shooting, including 3-for-5 from three-point range. Mekhi Gray joined Sullivan in double figures with 12 points, while Souleymane Diakite (eight points) and Kevin Osawe (seven points) both chipped in offensively. Osawe finished with a game-high eight rebounds.

NJIT vs...UMBC
NJIT and UMBC will meet for the seventh time on Wednesday, with each team winning three of the previous six matchups. The Retrievers swept NJIT last season and have won three of four since the Highlanders joined the America East prior to the 2020-21 season.

The Highlanders are 29-51 all-time vs. America East foes. NJIT is 14-26 in conference play as a member of the America East.

NJIT will feature one of the oldest rosters in the country this season as the team's average age on opening night is 22.7 years old. Kevin Osawe and Adam Hess both turned 24 prior to the season, while Souleymane Diakite, Kjell de Graaf, Justin Anderson, Raheim Sullivan, and Miles Coleman are all 23.
