NEWARK, N.J. — For the first time in program history, NJIT Women's Soccer has placed student-athletes on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Division I Women's Soccer Academic All-District Team, the organization announced this week.

Earning the distinction of Academic All-District for the Highlanders were grad defender Siani Magruder and redshirt senior goalkeeper Molly Saylor.

The 2022 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Magruder, a native of Egg Harbor Township, was selected to the AE second team for the second straight year and became the first Highlander since Arianna Gerber (2016 ASUN Second Team, 2018 ASUN First Team) to earn multiple First or Second Team All-Conference accolades from the same league in a career. Including her 2019 ASUN Second Team honor, Magruder is the first Highlander in program history to earn three All-Conference team awards in a career. The defensive stalwart helped NJIT finish third in the America East in opponent scoring average (1.11) and goals allowed (20) while shutting out opponents six times. Magruder-led teams have accounted for 30 shutouts over the past five seasons, including the two best defensive campaigns in NJIT history - 2018 and 2021 (school record nine shutouts each). Magruder added a second goal to her career ledger in NJIT's season finale at Bryant on October 27, a penalty kick game-winner that helped the Highlanders secure their second straight America East playoff berth in its three-year league history. Magruder also has an America East Defensive Player of the Week honor to her credit (September 7, 2021).

In the classroom, Magruder, a six-time Dean's List honoree, graduated Cum Laude in Spring 2022 with a 3.504 GPA and a Bachelor's degree in Biology and is currently in NJIT's Masters of Business Administration program.

Saylor, a native of South Park, PA, finished her career as one of the best goalkeepers in program history. Saylor added five solo shutouts in 2022 to push her program record to 19, ended her career in the top 10 nationally and third all-time at NJIT in career saves (330). This season, Saylor finished in the top five in the America East in saves per game (5.40, 1st), goals against average (1.103, 2nd), shutouts (5, 3rd), shutouts per game (.333, 3rd), and saves (81, 4th) while also posting a career high and-conference-leading 14 saves against Drexel on August 28. In her career, Saylor has been named to the America East Second Team (2021), the ASUN All-Freshman and All-Tournament teams (2019), and has earned five career Defensive Player of the Week honors (two in ASUN, three in AE).

Academically, Saylor is an eight-time Dean's List honoree, graduated Magna Cum Laude in Spring 2022 with her Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, is enrolled in NJIT's Civil Engineering Masters program, and was named to the America East All-Academic Team in 2021. Saylor was also NJIT's 2021 choice for Woman of the Year and was honored by the New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (NJAIAW).
Magruder and Saylor join Men's Soccer's Samuel Resigys on this year's CSC Academic All-District teams and add to a list of former Highlanders to earn All-District honors that includes Marina Arrese (Women's Fencing), Sabrina Baby (Women's Volleyball), Shyquan Gibbs (Men's Basketball), David Marcano (Baseball), Reilly Walsh (Men's Basketball) and Rene White (Men's Soccer).

The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
