NEWARK, NJ -- Freshman Alyssa Reiter earned her first career America East Rookie of the Week honor, as announced by the league office Monday morning. 

A native of Swedesboro, NJ, and graduate of Kingsway Regional High School, Reiter contributed 3 points to lead the charge in NJIT's 3-2 win over New Hampshire Sunday, giving the Highlanders their first AEast season opener victory since joining the conference in 2020. 

All 3 of Reiter's points came within an electric 2-minute span in the 1st Half. With NJIT trailing, 1-0, in the 27th minute, Reiter took a pass from Merle Hueser and played it perfectly through traffic over to Paige Eckert inside the goal zone, where Eckert finished it to tie the game. Two minutes later, Reiter found the back of the net for the first time in her collegiate career when she finished a perfect cross from fellow freshman Emery Sterling just outside the goal zone. 

Reiter is the third individual Highlander to win AEast Rookie of the Week this season, and second consecutive. Eckert took home last week's honors, and fellow freshman Taylor Stuart won the title on August 24.

Reiter and the Highlanders continue America East Conference play, traveling north to face UAlbany on Sunday at 2pm.
