Last Game Rewind
NASHVILLE, TN - The NJIT men's basketball team came close to erasing an 18-point first half deficit, but was never able to get the margin closer than two as it was defeated 77-63 by host Lipscomb in ASUN Conference action on Thursday.
The loss was the fourth-straight for NJIT (7-17, 4-7 ASUN), while Lipscomb (11-14, 6-6 ASUN) has now won three straight and four of its last five.

Last Time Out vs. Liberty
Newark, NJ - The NJIT men's basketball team dropped its ASUN Conference Opener to league favorite Liberty on Saturday, falling to the Flames 65-38 at the WEC.
Liberty (16-1, 2-0 ASUN) used a 13-0 run in the first half to come back from an early NJIT (3-11, 0-1 ASUN) lead and then scored 13 unanswered in the second half to increase its lead to more than 20.
"First off, that's a really good team," explained Head Coach
Brian Kennedy. "We played four 'high-major' opponents in our non-conference games, and they are every bit as good, if not better, that each of them. They are clearly the class of our league."
Scouting the Flames
Liberty was selected to win the ASUN Conference this year after taking the ASUN Tournament title last year and has looked every bit the the part. The Flames are tied for first place at 9-2 in league play with their only two losses coming on the road at North Florida and at Stetson.
The Flames are giving up just 52.2 ppg, which ranks second in the nation and first in the ASUN.
On the court, the Flames are led by 2019-20 ASUN Preseason Player of the Year Caleb Homesely. Homesley averaged 27.5 ppg, 7.0 rpg and 3.0 apg in a pair of wins last week and was named the ASUN's Player of the Week.
Liberty has won four straight and never trailed in each of those games.
Up Next
The Highlanders return home for their final two ASUN Conference regular season home games next week. NJIT will welcome Stetson to the WEC on Thursday at 7pm, before wrapping up its home slate against Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday at 4pm.
