Diego Willis, a rising sophomore, will represent the Mexican National Team and compete in two tournaments -- 30th Summer Universiade and Pan American Games over the summer.
The 6-foot-3 combo guard, who was a part of the 2018-19 record-setting season for the Highlanders, concluded his first season at the collegiate level, playing in 28 games, registering a career-best nine points vs. Lipscomb on January 16.
"It will be an amazing experience this summer, playing against some of the best players in the world," Willis commented.
A native from Hermosillo, Mexico, Willis earned a spot on the Mexican National Team last summer and will report to camp in mid-June to prepare for the 30th Summer Universiade, which will be held in Napoli, Italy.
The tournament will begin on July 3 to July 14, competing in Pool A against Czech Republic, Israel, Australia and Mexico.
Willis and the Mexican National team will compete at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru from July 26 to August 11. Teams competing at the Pan American Games are: Argentina, USA, Virgin Islands, Peru, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Mexico.
"The exposure competing in both tournaments will improve my game and push me to the next level," Willis added.
