NEWARK, NJ--NJIT (10-8) will open ASUN Conference with a three-game road series at Lipscomb (11-13) on Thursday evening at Duggan Field. First pitch is slated for 6pm (CT)/7pm (ET).

The Highlanders are coming off a doubleheader sweep at Villanova on March 18 in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania while the Bisons are coming off a 5-1 victory at #8 Vanderbilt Tuesday evening.
All-Time Series
NJIT posts a 0-6 all-time record against Lipscomb since joining the ASUN. The Highlanders have taken the Bisons to extra innings once, losing 12-11 in 10 innings back in 2016 in Nashville.

Scouting the Highlanders
NJIT, winners of its last two, are 10-4 over its last 14 games. NJIT won a stretch of five straight from March 9 to March 13, which includes four wins at Maryland Eastern Shore and 8-7 victory at Coppin State.
Head Coach 
Brian Guiliana, in his sixth season at the helm of the Highlanders, registered his 100
th career coaching win in the Highlanders' doubleheader sweep at Villanova.
With the doubleheader sweep over the Wildcats, NJIT has surpassed its wins output from last season (9) and stand at 10-8 on the season.
NJIT is led by freshmen 
David Marcano, who is batting .419, which leads the ASUN. Marcano has hit safely in the last 15-out-of-16 games.
Senior 
Jesse Uttendorfer ranks second on the team with a .324 hitting percentage while 
Julio Marcano, the twin brother of David, is batting .300, with a team-leading six doubles. Uttendorfer's seven stolen bases on the season, ranks fourth in the ASUN.
Michael Anastasia and 
Evan Pietronico top the team with 11 runs batted in.
Highlander Rotation

RHP 
Jared Kacso will be on the mound for the Highlanders in game one, entering the game with a 2.86ERA. In five starts this season, Kacso is 1-2 with eight strikeouts.
Sean Lubreski, the Highlanders righty, comes into the Lipscomb series with a 2-1 record in five games. Lubreski has pitched 24.1 innings and struck out 14 batters faced.
RHP 
Tyler Stafflinger leads the Highlanders with a 3-1 record, including a complete game shutout. His 2.55 ERA and 15 strikeouts top the Highlanders.
Relief pitcher 
Johnny Malatesta has recorded three of the Highlanders four saves.
NJIT pitching staff ranks second in the ASUN with a .238 batting average against, to go along with a 4.21 ERA. The Highlanders have 92 strikeouts and 70 walks in 145.1 innings of work.
Scouting Lipscomb
Lipscomb is coming off a 5-1 victory over #8 Vanderbilt on Tuesday behind four Bison pitchers, who combined to toss nine innings of one-hit baseball while striking out 10 Commodore batters. A homer from Zeke Dodson and a 3-RBI triple from Cade Sorrells would be all the offense the Bisons would need.
With a 2-for-2 night at Vanderbilt, Dodson upped his batting average to .379 – which is third best in the league. He paces the team with three home runs, 19 RBI, six doubles, two triples, a .598 slugging percentage and a .442 on-base clip.
Jeffrey Crisan is second on the squad batting a cool .328 with 16 RBI while Blake Thomas leads the ASUN with 12 stolen bases on 12 attempts.
Noah Thompson leads Lipscomb's weekend rotation with a 3-1 record and a 2.08 ERA. The freshman southpaw has allowed only six earned runs in 26.0 innings.
Chris Kachmar tops the Bisons and ranks sixth in the ASUN with 40 strikeouts.
Kyle Kemp, who got the start for Lipscomb on Tuesday even though he has been the primary closer this season, paces the Bisons with four saves in nine appearances.
Robbie Knox, a junior transfer, leads the Bisons with a 1.33 ERA. He also has three saves.
