SKILLMAN, NJ—The Intercollegiate Tennis Association selected six NJIT tennis players, three men and three women, as ITA Scholar Athletes and both teams earned ITA Team Academic honors for the 2014-15 season, Tom Loughrey of the ITA announced.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any member program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA, NAIA or Junior/Community College eligibility form and have competed in one or more varsity matches must average into the GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2014 and spring 2015).

The players named from NJIT were:
MENAndres AlbanAlban, a junior from Bogota, Colombia, is a two-time ITA Scholar Athlete award winner, majoring in applied physics enrolled in the NJIT Albert Dorman Honors College. In the 2014-15 season, he combined for a 16-11 overall record (11-6 at second singles) and went 13-9 in doubles competition (11-5 at second doubles).
Arnaud HollHoll, a junior from Baden, Germany, is a business major. He finished 10-10 overall in singles competition and 11-8 in doubles contests.
Jan CimrmanCimrman, a freshman from Karlsruhe, Germany, is a digital design major at NJIT. Cimrman, who joined the Highlanders in January 2015, went 11-7 overall in singles contests and 11-6 in doubles competition.
WOMEN Carolina ZanottaZanotta, from Piracicaba, Sao Paulo, Brazil, graduated from NJIT with an industrial engineering degree. She was selected to the 2015 America East second-team and captured the Flight A draw back title at the NJIT Women's Tennis Invitational. She was recipient of the 2014-15 Women's Tennis Outstanding Performer award.
Nathalie HabeggerHabegger, from Gland, Switzerland, is a biochemistry major at NJIT. She finished 8-12 overall in singles competition.
Tiffany BarnesBarnes, a sophomore from Hopatcong, NJ, is a digital design major at NJIT.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).
