Men's Tennis Earns ITA Northeast Regional Rankings

NEWARK, N.J. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has released its annual regional rankings Tuesday afternoon, with the Highlanders receiving team and individual honors.

NJIT was ranked sixth in the Northeast Region as a team, coming off a strong season with a 14-3 overall record and a trip to the Big South semi-finals. On top of the team ranking, Wil Jenkins and Soma Fukuhara were also ranked with the duo ranking as the seventh-best doubles tandem in the region.

As a team, the Highlanders posted a 14-3 overall record and closed the regular season on a ten-match winning streak, earning the No. 2 seed in the Big South Men's Tennis Championship in the program's first year as a member of the conference.

Individually, Jenkins was named to the First Team All-Conference Doubles Teams and the Second Team All-Conference Singles. On the court, the senior from Neath, Wales went 10-6 in singles competing at the No. 1 position and 12-1 in doubles also at the No.1 position.

Fukuhara on top of this honor, was also named to the First Team All-Big South Doubles Teams and the Second Team All-Big South Singles. On the court, the sophomore from Karatsu, Japan went 14-10 in singles competing primarily at the No. 2 position and started two matches this season at the No. 1 position. For doubles, Fukuhara went 19-4 competing at both the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. He was also named to the 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.
