Wagner opened with an 81-72 loss at Lafayette on Nov. 13 and NJIT's most recent game was a 69-52 home loss to Lafayette on November 21.

NJIT head coach Jim Engles began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Wagner in 1991 … Engles is a graduate of St. Peter's HS on Staten Island, as are two of his assistants, Mike Spisto and Kevin Tirone … Adding to the Staten Island flavor, NJIT captain Isaiah Wilkerson starred at Curtis HS on the Island. Wilkerson, a sophomore, is averaging 13.3 ppg and 7.7 rpg for the Highlanders. … Junior Jheryl Wilson leads the NJIT scorers at 16.7 ppg.

Wagner, from Staten Island, NY, won the first-ever men's basketball meeting between the schools last December in Newark by a score of 68-58 … This is the first of two games between NJIT and Wagner this season, as the Highlanders will travel to Wagner on December 28 … Wagner has three men averaging double-figure scoring, headed by freshman guard Ryan Conrad (13.5 ppg).
