Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The NJIT Highlanders fell to USC Upstate, 17-1, Sunday morning at Harley Park.

The Highlanders struck first in the top of the opening inning. Ty Sallie singled up the middle and later came around to score on a throwing error, giving the Highlanders an early 1-0 lead.

The Spartans responded with a six-run second inning and added a run in the third to extend the lead to 7-1.

After a scoreless fourth from Hayden Estes in relief, the Spartans broke the game open with a nine-run sixth inning, taking advantage of timely hitting and a pair of Highlander errors to build a 17-1 cushion.

At the plate for the Highlanders, Sallie went 1-for-3 with a run scored, Austin Francis and Dillon Can each recorded a hit.
