NEWARK, NJ – The NJIT men's basketball team travels down to Philadelphia on Tuesday, the 18
th to take on Drexel for a 7:00 p.m. start time. The game will be streamed live on FloSports TV.
FDU Recap
- The Highlanders took down FDU 91-78 on Saturday afternoon.
- The Highlanders led from tip-off to the final buzzer and went on a 15-0 run out of halftime and maintained a double-digit lead from then on.
- Freshman David Bolden, coming off America East Rookie of the Week honors, scored a new career high with 23 points on 7-11 shooting from the field.
- Freshman Rocco Awad went a perfect 3-3 from behind the arc and recorded a new career high with 15 points off the bench.
- Sophomore Ari Fulton recorded his second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
- As a team, the Highlanders shot an impressive 28-46 from the field (60.9%) and 12-26 from three (46.2%).
- The last time the Highlanders started off a season 3-1 was back during the 2015-16 season.
NJIT vs. Drexel: All-Time Series
- This is the third all-time meeting between the Highlanders and the Dragons.
- Highlanders hold the series record 2-0.
- The last matchup dates to 11/28/2018 where the Highlanders took down the Dragons in Philadelphia 70-67.
America East Rankings
- Bolden ranks fifth in the conference in scoring with 15.0 PPG.
- Bolden also ranks second in steals per game with 2.3 SPG.
- Another freshman in the rankings is Awad who ranks third in 3-PT FG% with an impressive 47.4%.
- Two Highlanders rank in the top five in rebounding with Fulton ranked third with 8.3 RPG and Sophomore Jordan Rogers with 6.0 RPG ranking tied for fifth.

- Grant Billmeier enters his third season at the helm.
- Ty Goode joins the coaching staff as an assistant coach after spending the previous three seasons on the staff at Fordham University as Recruiting/Video Coordinator (2024-25) and Assistant Recruiting Coordinator (2022-24).
- The Highlanders return nine players from last season, one of the highest marks in the conference.
- The Highlanders boasts a younger roster with 11 of its 15 members being either freshman or sophomores. The team also has three juniors and a graduate student.
- Newcomers to Newark include Melvyn Ebonkoli, Jeremy Clayville, Rocco Awad, Zack Scherler, AJ Altobelli and David Bolden.
- The Highlanders non-conference slate is filled with tough opponents including the AP Preseason No. 11 Louisville.
- Freshman David Bolden's 18 points at Fordham (11/4) is the most points scored by a freshman in their debut since Damon Lynn in 2013. Damon had 21 points at Tulane on Nov. 8, 2013.
