Men’s Basketball Returns to Newark for Local Matchup with FDU on Saturday Afternoon

GAME NOTES VS FDU 11.15

NEWARK, NJ –
The NJIT men's basketball team is back in Newark as the Highlanders take on a local opponent in FDU on Saturday, the 15th for a 4:00 p.m. start time. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Matt Provence (Play by Play) and Barry "Slice" Rohrssen (Color) on the call.

Loyola MD Recap
  • The Highlanders took down Loyola MD in a hostile environment thanks to sophomore Ari Fulton's mid-range jumper that beat the buzzer, 66-64.
  • On top of the game winning basket, Fulton finished with 22 points and 14 rebounds. His first double-double of the season and the fourth of his career.
  • Sophomore Jeremy Clayville had his breakout game finishing with 14 points on 4-7 shooting from deep, including a 3-3 stretch in the first half.
NJIT vs. FDU: All-Time Series
  • This is the ninth all-time meeting between the Highlanders and the Knights.
  • Highlanders hold the series record 6-2, including six straight wins to start the series.
  • The last matchup dates to 12/12/2023 where the Knights took down the Highlanders in Newark 71-68.
America East Rankings
  • The Highlanders are ranked as the number one scoring defense in the conference with 66.3 PPG, ranked number one in field goal percentage defense with 37.2% and ranked number three in 3-point FG percentage defense with 25%.
  • Fulton is tied for second in the conference in rebounds per game with 7.7.
  • Freshman David Bolden is second in the conference in steals with 2.7 steals per game.

  • Grant Billmeier enters his third season at the helm.
  • Ty Goode joins the coaching staff as an assistant coach after spending the previous three seasons on the staff at Fordham University as Recruiting/Video Coordinator (2024-25) and Assistant Recruiting Coordinator (2022-24).
  • The Highlanders return nine players from last season, one of the highest marks in the conference.
  • The Highlanders boasts a younger roster with 11 of its 15 members being either freshman or sophomores. The team also has three juniors and a graduate student.
  • Newcomers to Newark include Melvyn Ebonkoli, Jeremy Clayville, Rocco Awad, Zack Scherler, AJ Altobelli and David Bolden.
  • The Highlanders non-conference slate is filled with tough opponents including the AP Preseason No. 11 Louisville.
  • Freshman David Bolden's 18 points at Fordham (11/4) is the most points scored by a freshman in their debut since Damon Lynn in 2013. Damon had 21 points at Tulane on Nov. 8, 2013.
