EMMITSBURG, Md. - The NJIT women's soccer team (0-1-1) will travel to Mount St. Mary's (2-0) on Sunday at noon for a match at Waldron Family Stadium.
 
Fans can purchase tickets here. For those unable to attend Sunday's match, it will be streamed live on ESPN+.
 
NJIT NEWS & NOTES
NJIT opened its 2024 season with a 1-0 loss against Rutgers and a 0-0 draw against Marist last time out.
 
Mojisola Ayodele, Merle Hueser, Maria Nogueira, and Taylor Pape lead the strong Highlander defense, playing all 90 minutes during the first two matches. Goalkeeper Ayodele made six saves and allowed only one goal on 33 shots faced. NJIT has blocked 13 shots, including ten against top-50 Rutgers.
 
Offensively, the Highlanders are led by junior forwards Briana Andreoli, Mikayla Balio, and Kelsey Ramos, who took four shots each this season. Andreoli was selected to the 2024 America East Conference Women's Soccer Preseason All-Conference team after leading the team with six goals and three assists for a team-high 15 points in 2023.
 
SCOUTING MOUNT ST. MARY'S
Mount St. Mary's is off to its best start in program history with a 2-0 record, having recorded two clean sheets, defeating Hampton 4-0 and Delaware State 2-0.
 
Sydoney Clarke was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Mount with two goals. Adelaide Paredes earned the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week honor as the team allowed only three shots on goal in the first two matches.
 
The teams played to a 0-0 draw in Newark for the 2023 season opener. Mount St. Mary's leads the all-time series, 1-0-3. The Mount won the first meeting by a score of 5-2 on September 17, 2008.
 
NEXT UP
The Highlanders return to Newark for a two-game homestand, starting with a match against in-state rival Saint Peter's on Thursday, August 29 at 6:00 p.m. at Lubetkin Field at Mal Simon Stadium.
