BOSTON - NJIT senior
Aidan Kidd was named the America East Baseball Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday morning.
Kidd was honored after leading the Highlanders to a 4-3 series opening victory over UMass Lowell on Friday. NJIT won the three-game series as it was also victorious on Saturday.
The left-hander tossed six innings on Friday night and struck out 12 hitters, while allowing just one run and leaving the game with the Highlanders ahead 4-1.
Kidd's 12 strikeouts were a career-high, topping his 11-strikeout performance in a win vs. Cal-Bakersfield earlier this season. The Laguna Beach, CA, native leads the America East with 50 strikeouts, eight more than any other pitcher.
The Highlanders are slated to play four road games this week, beginning with Wednesday's non-conference game at Wagner. NJIT will then hit the road for a three-game America East series this weekend at Maine.
