Briana Andreoli Named America East Offensive Player Of The Week

NEWARK, N.J. — NJIT Women's Soccer sophomore forward Briana Andreoli has been named the America East Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.

The Hawthorne native netted a brace in NJIT's 3-2 victory over Vermont on October 22 that secured the Highlanders' third consecutive appearance in the America East Tournament. The two-goal outing was the first of Andreoli's young career and improved her team-leading offensive tallies to six goals and 15 points (adding in her three assists on the year).

Andreoli's six goals are the most for an NJIT player in a single season since former Highlander Fiona Wright scored 11 during the 2018 campaign. She is now the second player in NJIT's four-year America East history to have earned a Rookie of the Week (Oct. 10, 2022) and Offensive/Defensive Player of the Week honor during her career (Corbin Reifschneider collected Rookie and Offensive honors in the same week during the 2020/Spring 2021 season - Feb. 23).

Andreoli joins teammates Merle Hueser, Maria Nogueira, and Gabby Zalot as AE weekly award winners for 2023. The award is Andreoli's first career Offensive honor, her second career weekly award, NJIT's sixth Offensive selection and the Highlanders' 16th overall AE weekly honor since joining the conference in July 2020.

Abby Cowles of UMBC (Defensive) and Samantha Zaslaw of Bryant (Rookie) earned this week's other awards.

Andreoli and NJIT will conclude the regular season on Thursday, October 26 against league-leading Binghamton in Newark before learning its fate for the America East quarterfinals, which are slated for Sunday, October 29.
