VESTAL, NY -- NJIT kept the America East Conference's highest-scoring offense (G/Game) off the scoreboard for the first 76 minutes, but Binghamton found the back of the net late for a 1-0 win Thursday afternoon.

Jahkaya Davis scored the game-winner on an unassisted strike in the 76th, breaking the deadlock to give Binghamton a spot in the America East Playoffs. Davis is now the conference leader in goals (eight), and led the game with four shots Thursday.

NJIT created some opportunities in its offensive end, but Binghamton's conference-leading defense, which has allowed just five goals on the season, was up for the task. Elyse Simpson led the Highlanders with three shots, while Kirra Hyder had a shot on goal. Binghamton keeper Rebecca Kessler saved the lone shot on target for the shutout.

The Highlanders tallied six total shots to Binghamton's 11.

After posting a shutout on Sunday, Kaele Smith continued her strong play in goal, thwarting Binghamton's high-powered offense for the first 76 minutes. Smith made five saves total, and the goal Binghamton scored ended a stretch of 192-conseuctive minutes of shutout soccer for Smith and NJIT, dating back to 10/11 at Maine.
