NEWARK, NJ– The NJIT men's basketball team wraps up its two-game America East road swing on Sunday with an afternoon matchup at league favorite Vermont.
Game Information
Tip-off is slated for 1pm inside Patrick Gymnasium on Vermont's campus in Burlington. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
Highlander Highlights
* Sunday's game is the 19th of the 2022-23 season -- which marks NJIT's 17th participating in Division I, third as a member of the America East and sixth in the Wellness & Events Center.
* NJIT is 2-3 in America East action and three of the five games have come down to the final possesion of regulation. Two games needed an overtime period to decide the winner.
* Saturday's win over UAlbany was NJIT's first in 11 chances and the Highlanders now claim victories over every other America East institution.
* Raheim Sulivan and Mekhi Gray each dished out six assists with just one turnover on Thursday night at Bryant. As a team, NJIT had 17 assists in the game, which ranks tied for second in a game this season.
* Miles Coleman (at Sacred Heart) and Adam Hess (at South Florida) each have games where they drained seven three-pointers, tying Bryant's Doug Edert for the second-most this season by an America East player. Charles Pride (Bryant) drained eight vs. UAlbany on Jan. 11.
* Kevin Osawe posted his fourth double-double of the season (18 points, 15 rebounds) off the bench against Binghamton on Wednesday. Osawe's four double-doubles are the fifth-most for an America East player this season. UNH's Clarence Daniels leads the way with seven.
* Souleymane Diakite has put together back-to-back double-digit scoring performances, tallying 13 last Saturday vs. UAlbany and 12 on Thursday at Bryant.
* Adam Hess leads the America East in 3FG%, knocking down 43.8% this season (35-for-80).
* Six of NJIT's 14 players have completed their undergraduate degrees and are working towards their Master's. Souleymane Diakite and Kjell de Graaf graduated from NJIT last May, while Justin Anderson (Bloomsburg), Adam Hess (E. New Mexico St.), Kevin Osawe (Arkansas-Little Rock), and Raheim Sullivan (Marist) come to NJIT from other institutions.
Last Time Out: Bryant 87, NJIT 75 | Thurs. 1/19 in Smithfield, RI
The Bryant men's basketball team used a late first half run and played from ahead the entire second half en route to a 87-75 America East Conference victory over NJIT on Thursday evening at the Chace Athletic Center.
Bryant improved to 4-2 in America East action this season, while the Highlanders dropped to 2-3.
NJIT vs...Vermont
NJIT and Vermont will meet for the 10th time on Sunday, with the Catamounts holding a 8-1 advantage in the series, including 3-1 in America East regular season games. The Hgihlanders lone win in the series came in December 2020 when San Antonio Brinson's putback layup in double overtime gave NJIT an 81-80 buzzer-beating victory.

The Highlanders are 29-50 all-time vs. America East foes. NJIT is 13-24 in conference play as a member of the America East.
