Men's Lacrosse Stymied By Defending Champion Vermont In America East Opener

BURLINGTON, VT — The NJIT men's lacrosse team opened its second season of America East conference play with a 14-3 road loss to the Vermont Catamounts Saturday afternoon at Virtue Field.

The Highlanders' (0-7, 0-1 AE) offense against Vermont (3-6, 1-0 AE) consisted of a goal apiece from Owen Corry (3rd of the season), Beck Gozdenovich (3rd) and Eric Sherman (2nd). Teddy Grimley and Lynch Raby each gathered four ground balls, with Raby also forcing a pair of turnovers.

Despite the loss, Liam Brown stopped 17 shots in his 60 minutes, including ten in the first quarter alone. The performance was the ninth of his career with at least 17 saves.

NEXT UP
NJIT returns home next week (Saturday, March 26) for its first home America East game against UMass Lowell. Gametime is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
