History vs. the Demon Deacons
NJIT and Wake Forest have met once, with the Demon Deacons earning a 12-7 victory just shy of 10 years ago on March 14, 2012.

History vs. the ACC
The Highlanders have never defeated an ACC opponent. Last Sunday, NJIT went toe-to-toe with fifth-ranked UVA for five innings, before ultimately falling 8-3 to the traditional power.

Award Season
It didn't take long for the Highlanders to get recognized by the America East Conference as Ryan Fischer was named Pitcher of the Week and David Marcano was named Player of the Week following NJIT's 2-1 weekend in a round-robin event hosted by Gardner-Webb.

Fischer Fridays
Ryan Fischer picked up where he left off at the end of the Highlanders' historic 2021 season with one of the best outings of his young career on Opening Day against Gardner-Webb. Fischer, who earned the victory in NJIT's NCAA Tournament win vs. Northeastern with a seven-inning, one-run gem, struck out a career-high 11 hitters in six innings, while allowing just one run on Opening Day in Boiling Springs, NC. NJIT's Matt Provence sat down with Fischer to discuss his Opening Day success and the mindset going forward.

Rappaport's Return
Jake Rappaport set the NJIT single-season saves (11) and wins (eight) records last season and is back for his fifth season as a Highlander and the second as the team's closer. Earlier in the preseason, Rappaport was named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year watch list and his save against Gardner-Webb was the 14th of his career.

On Deck
Following this weekend's series at Wake Forest, NJIT will be back in action with a three-game series at Norfolk St., which will take place from Friday-Sunday, March 4-6.
