NEWARK, NJ - The NJIT baseball team will play its first home games in 679 days this weekend, and they'll simultaneously make their America East Conference debut when they host Albany in a four-game series on Saturday and Sunday.
The teams will play a pair of games each day, beginning at 11am, with game one slated to go seven innings and game two to be a nine-inning contest.
NJIT, which was picked to finish sixth of eight teams in the America East in a preseason coaches poll, is 1-5 on the young season after taking one of three at VMI and dropping all three games to Fordham. Albany, tabbed to be fourth in the league, enters the weekend at 2-5 with its biggest win coming against another Essex County squad, Seton Hall, in its season opener.
The Highlanders and Great Danes have previously met eight times, splitting a pair of four-game series in 2014 and 2015.
Spectators are not currently permitted at NJIT athletics events, but all four of this weekend's games will be streamed on AmericaEast.TV with NJIT's Matt Provence on the play by play.Â
