NASHVILLE, Tenn. —
NJIT (21-11, 8-8 ASUN) is set to take on ASUN Regular Season champions Lipscomb (24-6, 14-2 ASUN) on Thursday, March 7.

Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET at Allen Arena. (TV: ESPN+)

The Highlanders defeated No. 4 Florida Gulf Coast on the road on Monday, 83-78. The win was NJIT's first ASUN Championship win in program history.

Diandre Wilson led the team in scoring with 26 points followed by Zach Cooks with 25 points. Abdul Lewis added 18 points and six rebounds in the effort.

Lewis (767) became NJIT's all-time leading rebounder en route to the victory, surpassing Tim Coleman (762).

The senior need just six more boards to reach 1,000 career NCAA rebounds (227, South Alabama).

All-Time Series: Lipscomb Leads, 7-2

NJIT faces Lipscomb for the third and final time this season on Thursday.

In their first meeting on Jan. 16, Lipscomb rolled at the Wellness and Events Center, 70-52.

In the rematch on Feb. 25 in Nashville, Tenn., NJIT fought valiantly on the road, but fell once again, 81-77.

ASUN Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll

After winning last year's ASUN Conference men's basketball championship title, Lipscomb was picked to repeat by the league's head coaches in the 2018-19. The Bisons garnered seven of nine first-place votes among the head coaches in the league, while also being selected first in the media poll.

Coincidentally, both polls featured identical rankings.

NJIT was selected sixth in the nine-member conference in both the ASUN Preseason Coaches and Media Polls as Lipscomb was picked to win the conference with 79 points.

Lewis, an ASUN Conference second-team honoree last season was named to the 2018 ASUN Preseason All-Conference Team.

Lipscomb Bisons

Lipscomb earned the top seed in the ASUN Championship with an impressive 14-2 conference record.

The Bisons' two losses this season came against Liberty and FGCU.

Lipscomb enters the game on a four-game winning streak and eliminated No. 8 Kennesaw State in the ASUN Quarterfinals on Monday.

Garrison Mathews leads the ASUN in scoring, averaging 20.0 ppg. The senior was named ASUN Player of the Year and was joined on the ASUN First Team All-Conference by forward Rob Marberry.

As a team, Lipscomb led the ASUN in scoring (84.1 ppg), scoring margin (+14.8), field goal percentage defense (.410) and three-point field goal percentage (.377).

Next Up

If NJIT defeats Lipscomb, the Highlanders will head to either Jacksonville, Fla., or Lynchburg, Va., to face the winner of North Florida vs. Liberty in the ASUN Championship game on Sunday, March 10.
