NEWARK, NJ-- The NJIT men's basketball team will look to win its third-straight game on Wednesday when it hosts Binghamton at 7pm in the WEC.
LAST TIME OUT
Five players scored in double figures as the NJIT men's basketball team rolled to an 88-69 victory over visiting Wagner in their home opener on Saturday at the WEC. NJIT shot a season-high 50.9% from the field and 43.5& from three-point range, while only turning the ball over four times, which marked a new season-low.
ASUN PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Zach Cooks was honored as helped lead NJIT to a pair of victories last week. The junior captain was named ASUNÂ Player of the Week after averaging 22.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 4.0 apg, and 2.5 spg. It marked the third time in Cooks' career that he received the honor.

Shyquan Gibbs'Â heroic, last-second basket to beat Cornell was featured as the #5 play on Wednesday evening's SportsCenter Top 10.Â
Reilly Walsh inbounded the ball to Gibbs with 3.6 seconds to play and Gibbs took it towards the basket and finished an incredible shot between two Cornell defenders to put the Highlanders ahead with just :0.5 seconds to play.Â
Brushing Up on the Bearcats
Binghamton was tabbed to finish in sixth place among nine teams in the America East Conference. The Bearcats return just one starter and two scholarship players from a team that finished 10-23 last season. Wednesday's game is the fourth road contest for BU through five games this season.
The Bearcats are coming off their first win of the season, a 76-72 triumph over visiting Sacred Heart. SHU scored the first 15 points of the game, but Binghamton got a 27-point performance from Sam Sessoms and a 21-point, 12-rebound effort from George Tinsley to come back and get the win.Â
Sessoms, the 2018-19 America East Rookie of the Year, was named to the six-player AE Preseason All-Conference Team.

Diandre Wilson scored a game-high 21 points off the bench to lead visiting NJIT past Binghamton University, 74-57, at Dr. Bai Lee Court at Events Center in Vestal, N.Y. Â

Souleymane Diakite also turned in his first huge performance as a collegiate player, recording 11 points and nine rebounds in relief of senior
Mohamed Bendary – who had eight points and a game-high 10 rebounds of his own. In the absence of
Abdul Lewis, the two combined for 19 points, 19 rebounds and a pair of blocks.
The Highlanders used a strong defensive effort to coast to the victory – holding the Bearcats to just 31.6-percent shooting (18-for-57). They also limited talented freshman Sam Sessoms, who had 27 points in the opener, to 13 points on 4-for-15 shooting.

Meanwhile, NJIT shot 44.3-percent from the floor and held edges in both rebounding (45-38) and turnovers (9 to 12).
