NEWARK, N.J. --- First place in the ASUN Conference will be on the line as the NJIT women's soccer team hosts the North Florida Ospreys for Homecoming.

LAST TIME OUT
For the first time since joining the ASUN Conference in 2015, NJIT won its first two games in league play after defeating North Alabama, 2-1, on September 29. Jessica Aseng scored NJIT's first goal - and the first of her career - in the 16th minute. A Highlander corner kick led to a shot by Fiona Wright that was blocked by a North Alabama defender. The ricocheted ball went towards the the UNA and Aseng was able to beat the goalkeeper to the ball to head home the score. Lauren Chamberlain doubled the Highlander lead in the 69th minute with an impressive individual effort. Chamberlain tapped the ball over a North Alabama defender before it went out of bounds, took one touch and blasted an upper-left shot past the Lions' keeper.

SECOND ASUN HONOR FOR HIGHLANDERS
Aseng secured NJIT's second ASUN Defensive Player of the Week award of the season for her play against Stetson and North Alabama. She helped the Highlander defense allow only one goal in their two wins and added her first-ever goal against UNA. The DPOW honor is the fifth all-time for NJIT and follows Molly Saylor's accolade from the first week of the season.

LOOKING TO REPLICATE SUCCESS
NJIT will be looking to improve on its historic 2018 run through ASUN Conference play. The Highlanders ended conference action last year as the No. 2 team in the league with a 5-2-1 mark and hosted an ASUN Tournament game in its first-ever appearance.

DEFENSE WINS GAMES
The Highlanders currently rank first in the ASUN Conference in goals against average (0.735; 40th in NCAA) and save percentage (.877; 13th in NCAA) while Molly Saylor is pacing the league in GAA (.591; 29th in NCAA) and save percentage (.907; 11th in NCAA).

ALL-TIME SERIES
NJIT and North Florida have met four times in their history, with the Ospreys holding a 3-1 edge in the all-time series. NJIT won their last matchup, 1-0 road shutout on September 28, 2018

SCOUTING NORTH FLORIDA
North Florida (8-3-1) enters Sunday's game tied with NJIT atop the ASUN standings (2-0-0; 6 pts) after defeating Kennesaw State on Thursday evening. The Ospreys have won four matches in a row, including wins over Liberty and KSU to begin conference play. North Florida is led by Thais Reiss (9 goals, 1 assist), Leah Ferlin (4 G), and Rhiannon Conelley (1.25 GAA, .667 save percentage, 20 saves)

NEW ERA FOR NJIT ATHLETICS
Women's Soccer's opener against UMBC was the first regular season game played on NJIT's new field, which was completed this summer. It  also marked the first on-campus contest for the Highlanders' three outdoor teams - women's soccer, men's soccer, and men's lacrosse - since November 7, 2015.

The Highlanders will be led by 2018 ASUN Coach of the Year Ally Nick, ASUN Freshman of the Year and First Team All-Conference selection Fiona Wright (11 goals in 2018), and Second Team All-ASUN honoree Nicole Loehle (2 goals; started 17 games for ASUN's 4th-ranked defense at 1.17 goals allowed per game).
