NEWARK, N.J. --- NJIT Women's Soccer (5-4-3, 2-1-1 ASUN) will play its penultimate road game of the regular season on Friday when the Highlanders travel to Nashville to face the Lipscomb Bisons.

LAST TIME OUT
NJIT started its final road stretch of the regular season by falling 2-0 against the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles on the road on October 13. The Highlanders were shut out in regulation for only the fourth time this season as FGCU moved into first place in the ASUN with the victory. Despite conceding a pair of goals in the first half (13' and 39'), keeper Molly Saylor was able to stop nine of FGCU's 13 shots and log at least nine stops for the third time in the last five contests. Katrina Nguyen-DeMaryFiona Wright and Alexis Magruder each recorded shots for the Highlanders.

SECOND ASUN HONOR FOR HIGHLANDERS
Aseng secured NJIT's second ASUN Defensive Player of the Week award of the season for her play against Stetson and North Alabama. She helped the Highlander defense allow only one goal in their two wins and added her first-ever goal against UNA. The DPOW honor is the fifth all-time for NJIT and follows Molly Saylor's accolade from the first week of the season.

DEFENSE WINS GAMES
The Highlanders currently rank first in the ASUN Conference in goals against average (0.78) and goals allowed (10) while Molly Saylor is pacing the league in goals allowed (10; tied) and save percentage (.870).

THE WRIGHT STUFF
Fiona Wright has extended her NJIT Division I record for career goals scored this season. With a team-leading three goals in 2019, Wright has now scored 14 goals in less than two seasons.

SCOUTING LIPSCOMB
Lipscomb enters Friday's game having won its last two ASUN contests at Jacksonville (2-1) and at North Florida (1-0) and are tied with FGCU and UNF for the most overall wins in the conference (9). The Bisons are led by Olivia Doak (7 goals, 4 assists), Molly Grant (5 G, 2), and Melissa Gray (1.02 GAA, .817 save percentage, 58 saves).

ALL-TIME SERIES
In Friday's fifth all-time meeting between NJIT and Lipscomb, the Highlanders will be looking for its first victory. In last season's game on September 21, Lipscomb defeated NJIT 5-1 in New Jersey.

NEW ERA FOR NJIT ATHLETICS
Women's Soccer's opener against UMBC was the first regular season game played on NJIT's new field, which was completed this summer. It  also marked the first on-campus contest for the Highlanders' three outdoor teams - women's soccer, men's soccer, and men's lacrosse - since November 7, 2015.

LOOKING TO REPLICATE SUCCESS
NJIT will be looking to improve on its historic 2018 run through ASUN Conference play. The Highlanders ended conference action last year as the No. 2 team in the league with a 5-2-1 mark and hosted an ASUN Tournament game in its first-ever appearance.

2019 OUTLOOK
NJIT will have 19 returners and seven newcomers on the roster as the Highlanders look to follow up on a historic 2018 campaign that saw the team set a program record for wins (11) and finish as the regular season runner-up in the ASUN Conference.

The Highlanders will be led by 2018 ASUN Coach of the Year Ally Nick, ASUN Freshman of the Year and First Team All-Conference selection Fiona Wright (11 goals in 2018), and Second Team All-ASUN honoree Nicole Loehle (2 goals; started 17 games for ASUN's 4th-ranked defense at 1.17 goals allowed per game).

NEXT UP
NJIT will play its final road game of the regular season on Sunday, October 20 at Noon against Kennesaw State.
