PRINCESS ANNE, MD—NJIT baseball evened its record to 5-5 with a doubleheader sweep at Maryland Eastern Shore, 8-4, in game one and, 7-0, in the nightcap behind a seven-inning complete game shutout by
Tyler Stafflinger at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.
Maryland Eastern Shore took a 2-0 lead in game one after one inning. The Highlanders scored three in the third and two in the fourth for a 5-2 lead. After solo runs for the Hawks in the fourth and fifth, NJIT tacked on three runs in the top of the seventh to push ahead, 8-4, and secure the game.

Tyler Stafflinger pitched a seven-inning complete game shutout, 7-0, in the nightcap, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out two Hawk batters.

The home team got things started Saturday, scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the first on a two-run homer by Jamison Trower, giving the Hawks a 2-0 lead.

Highlanders
David Marcano and Franzoni started off the top of the fourth with back-to-back singles and Marcano scored later in the inning on an RBI fielder's choice by Uttendorfer, his second of the game. Uttendorfer advanced to second on a Hawk throwing error and Franzoni advanced home, pushing the Highlander lead to 5-2.
Maryland Eastern Shore added single runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth, slimming the Highlander lead to one, 5-4.
NJIT tacked on three runs in the top of the seventh, extending the Highlander lead to 8-4. Etts got things going with a single to start and stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Freshman

Evan Pietronico, who reached first on a walk, putting runners on the corners for NJIT. After a double steal by the Highlanders, Brady stole Marcano stole home and Brady stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error by the Hawks catcher.

NJIT scored three runs in the second and sixth and added a single run in the seventh, as the Highlanders evened its season-record to 5-5 behind sophomore RHP

NJIT added three runs on one error in the top of the sixth and a single run in the top of the seventh on a solo shot by Anastasia, pushing the Highlander lead to 7-0.
NJIT and Maryland Eastern Shore will wrap up its four-game series on Sunday at 12pm.
