UNIVERSITY PARK, PA—The NJIT men's tennis team (6-9) dropped a 6-1 non-conference match at Penn State Sunday afternoon.
Highlander duo
Aleksa Petrovic and
Jot Sandhu fought hard at first doubles, but ultimately fell to Penn State's Christian Lutschaunig and Zach Lieb, 6-4. Penn State would go to take the doubles point after a 6-0 victory at the second spot.
Sophomore
Zac Castagna tallied the only victory on the afternoon for the Highlanders, defeating Penn State's Gabriel Nemeth in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4, at third singles.
NJIT's
Javier Allende turned in a strong effort against David Kohan of Penn State, but it wasn't enough, as Kohan went on to defeat the Highlander sophomore by a score of 6-4, 7-5, at sixth singles.
NJIT will return home on Saturday, April 1, when the Highlanders resume ASUN Conference play, welcoming Florida Gulf Coast to The Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility. The match will begin at 2pm.
