WEST POINT, N.Y.
– The NJIT men's tennis wins ninth straight over Army West Point, 4-1, on the road Wednesday evening ahead of regular season finale this weekend.

The Highlanders secured the doubles point with convincing performances on the top two courts. The duo of Wil Jenkins and Soma Fukuhara opened the match with a 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Nejc Skorjanc and Yerassyl Bakhtiyar followed with a 6-3 decision at No. 2 to give the Highlanders the early advantage.

The Highlanders carried that momentum into singles play, earning three straight-set victories to clinch the match. Jenkins picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win at the top position, while Yerassyl Bakhtiyar delivered a strong 6-3, 6-1 performance at No. 5 singles. Maxime Hankins secured the deciding point with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles.

The Black Knights earned its lone point at No. 2 singles, but the Highlanders controlled the remainder of the match to seal the 4-1 team victory on the road.

"Really good day today for the guys, Army has a tough team this year and we handled the pressure to get another win," said Head Coach Marco Matteucci. "We go back outdoors against Hofstra to finish off the regular season and we look forward to the conference tournament."

The victory marks the Highlanders' ninth consecutive win, continuing an impressive stretch that began after an earlier loss to Drexel. During the streak, the Highlanders have earned wins over Bucknell, Monmouth, Bryant, Binghamton, Quinnipiac, Baruch, Temple, and now Army West Point.
