NEWARK, NJ – The NJIT men's swimming and diving team fell 111-86 to Lehigh in dual meet at the Fleisher Athletic Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Highlanders (4-5) just returned from their winter training trip to host the Mountain Hawks (4-3).
NJIT opened the meet swimming the 200 medley relay in 1:40.79 with the help of
Scott Quirie,
Justin Sherrill,
Edward Parks and
Tyler Pollock.
Quirie also picked up a second place finish in the 100 back (54.56) and third in the 200 IM (2:00.13).
Sophomore Parks placed second in the 100 fly in 54.51, out touching Mountain Hawk Justin Kostelinik who finished in 54.74.
Freshman
Haydn Pak placed third in the 200 free with a time of 1:46.81, .39 seconds after second place finisher Dean Shafritz of Lehigh.
In the 100 free
Michael Sungurov finished third, just beating out teammate
Jack Matusiak who came in fourth.
Senior Matusiak would pick up third place in the 50 free with a time of 22.84.
The Highlanders ended the meet with a 3:19.90 400 free relay time consisting of Pak, Matusiak, Sungurov and
Matheus Monteiro Montarroyos.
NJIT will host a tri-meet with Howard and Drexel on January 15 at 1pm at the Fleisher Athletic Center. The tri-meet will also be Senior Day, where the four seniors
Jack Matusiak,
Joseph Pedo,
Timothy Sullivan and
Michael Sungurov will be honored before the start of the meet.
