BOSTON - Mohamed Walid was named the America East Swimmer and Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. He earned his first career AE weekly awards.

Walid ranks first in the America East by three seconds in the 200 butterfly, winning the event at the NJIT Invite with a time of 1:50.32 - a CSCAA B-cut time. He also claimed first place in the 100 butterfly with a time of 49.36, ranking third in the conference.
In relay events, Walid contributed to a third-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay, which posted a time of 1:24.92 — the second-fastest in the America East this season. His 50 free split of 21.30 seconds ranks fifth in the conference.
He also swam on the 800 freestyle relay team that recorded the top time in the America East this season at 6:53.28. His 200 free split of 1:41.95 ranks third individually in the conference.
Additionally, Walid helped lead the 400 freestyle relay (3:04.64) and 400 medley relay (3:23.31) teams to first-place finishes at the NJIT Invite. Both times currently lead the conference.

NJIT will host America East foe Bryant in a dual meet on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 1:00 p.m. at the BWEC.
