The Highlanders (8-10, 1-2 ASUN) will play its next two games on the road, first visiting FGCU (14-6, 3-0 ASUN) on Saturday with opening tip slated for 4 p.m.

The game is part of a doubleheader with the NJIT men (9-10, 1-2 ASUN), who will tip off at 7 p.m. against the Eagles at Alico Arena.

With a win, NJIT will record its first all-time victory against the Eagles, which will meet for the fifth time

For the remainder of the season, every NJIT game played in the ASUN Conference, home and away, throughout the regular season and into the ASUN postseason tournament will be covered on ESPN3.

ALL-TIME SERIES
FGCU leads the all-time series, 4-0.  The two teams first met at the National Division I Independent Tournament in Edinburg, Texas in 2007-08.  FGCU and NJIT faced each other three times last season – two during the regular season and in the opening round of the 2016 ASUN Conference Tournament.  The Eagles, the number one seed in the tournament, topped the Highlanders, 60-31, in Fort Myers.

A LOOK AT FGCU
FGCU (14-6, 3-0 ASUN) won its eighth straight game, with a strong second half performance against Kennesaw State, 75-56 Monday afternoon.  After ending the first half tied up with the Owls at 30, FGCU went on an impressive 22-7 run in the third quarter to secure the win.

Freshman guard Tytionia Adderly gave her best performance as an Eagle thus far, posting FGCU's first double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Adderly also added three assists and two steals in the contest.

Junior forward Rosemarie Julien who was named ASUN Newcomer of the Week (week of January 16) for the third time, tied with Haley Laughter for a team-leading 13 points. The winner of four ASUN weekly awards this season, Julien contributed defensively with a career-high six boards and two steals.

As a team, the Eagles have connected on 196 three-pointers, which ranks fourth in the nation, paced by Taylor Gradinjan's team-best 44 three-pointers.  Haley Laughter, who is averaging 8.3 ppg, has sunk 31 three-pointers followed by Jessica Cattani (29) and Julien (28).

Julien, a graduate from Chipola College, a two-year college in Florida, leads the Eagles in her first season as the lone player averaging double-digits at 11.5ppg.   

This season the Eagles are leading the ASUN in scoring defense (57.8 pg), assists (15.3 pg), FG made (516), 3pt FG made (196 -- 4th in the NCAA) and 3pt FGs per game (9.8 -- 8th in the NCAA).

2015-16 EAGLES RECAP
FGCU produced one of its most successful seasons in program history at 33-6, with the win total representing the most in Division I program history and falling one shy of the all-time mark.

The Eagles made two NCAA Tournament appearances and won four-straight ASUN Regular Season titles. The 2015-16 team stands as FGCU's first DI team to play in a national title game.

After falling to South Dakota in the WNIT Championship, FGCU finished the 2016 WNIT with a record of 5-1 and moved to 8-6 in six appearances in the tournament.

FGCU earned the league's automatic bid to the WNIT with the regular season championship after compiling its fourth undefeated conference season in five years. The season concluded as the 12th-straight for FGCU with more than 20 wins. The Eagles have won 30 games in each of the last two seasons and have made nine-straight postseason appearances.

The Eagles saw its first player drafted to the WNBA when Whitney Knight was selected 15th overall by the LA Sparks.

A LOOK AT NJIT
NJIT put together a late rally but it wasn't enough to overcome the 26-point second half performance, which led Jacksonville to its third straight win on Monday in a 76-56 victory.

Redshirt sophomore Tatianna Torres, the reigning ASUN Conference Player of the Week (January 16), netted a team-best 18 points and added five steals.  Torres has now scored in double-figures in the last seven games and sits atop the ASUN with 43 steals.  In the previous three games, Torres has recorded at least five steals, with a high of six at USC Upstate (1.7.17).

In ASUN action, Torres is averaging 17.0 ppg, including 16 steals, 12 assists and is shooting 50 percent from the field (17-for-37).

Senior guard Alana Dudley netted 12 points while dishing out four assists.  Redshirt freshman Ammari Trueheart combined for a career-best nine points off the bench in 14 minutes of action.

Dudley paces the Highlanders at 11.5 ppg followed by Leah Horton at 10.2 ppg.  Dudley has recorded at least one assist in all 18 games and has notched double-digit scoring in the last four games for NJIT.  Her 246 career assists ranks third, 35 shy Ivana Seric's 275 assists, who sits in second place.

NJIT's Kelly Guarino paces the team with 29 three-pointer made followed by Dudley and Jordan Ireland with 14.
