NEWARK, NJ – The NJIT women's basketball team has announced its 2026-27 America East Conference schedule, as released by the league Tuesday afternoon.
"The America East will have a very new look this year," said head coach
Mike Lane. "Fifteen of the top 20 scorers from last season will not be in the conference this winter, plus we have three new coaches on the sidelines at UAlbany, Vermont and UMass-Lowell. It's hard to know exactly what to expect with so much change, so we will be keeping an eye out on our conference foes and learning about them during the non-conference portion of the season."
Following the previously announced challenging 13-game non-conference slate, the Highlanders will open America East play on January 3 when NJIT travels to UMBC.
"The Highlanders will also be revamped, but our style will be much the same," added Lane. "Marissa Gingrich, Madilyn Dogs and Mackenzie Wright-Rawls will provide leadership and experience as our seniors. They have a lot of minutes and reps under their belts and know how we want to play. Returning starters Allison Cannon and Ava Locklear have been forces in this league and along with classmates Olivia O'Meally and Piper Engelby will be counted on to play pivotal roles this season. We can't wait to compete this winter, but until then we have a lot of work to do to prepare for this 2026-27 season."
NJIT will open its home conference schedule on January 7, welcoming New Hampshire to the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center. Two days later, the Highlanders will host Maine on January 9.
The Highlanders will hit the road for a pair of conference contests, visiting UAlbany on January 14 and Binghamton on January 16.
NJIT will return home on January 21 to host Bryant before traveling to Vermont on January 23.
The Highlanders will make the trip north to UMass Lowell on January 30 to close out the month.
NJIT will begin February with back-to-back home contests, hosting UAlbany on February 4 and Binghamton on February 6.
The Highlanders will then hit the road for consecutive games at New Hampshire on February 11 and Maine on February 13.
NJIT will close out the home portion of its regular-season schedule with three straight contests at the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center, hosting UMass Lowell on February 18, Vermont on February 20 and UMBC on February 25. The February 25 matchup against UMBC will be part of a doubleheader with the NJIT men's basketball team.
The regular season will conclude on February 27 when NJIT travels to Bryant.
