2026-27 Non-Conference Schedule
NEWARK, NJ – NJIT women's basketball has announced its 2026-27 non-conference schedule, a challenging 13-game slate that tips off at home on Nov. 2 and features five contests at the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center.
Head coach Mike Lane enters his ninth season leading the Highlanders following one of the most successful campaigns in program history.
"We are excited about the 26-27 slate," said Lane. "First off, we get a home opener at The WEC vs in-state rival Rider. We haven't kicked off the season at home since 2021-22. Then we dive into the inaugural AE/Metro Challenge with tilts against Merrimack and Marist. The three Metro teams to start the season will certainly tell us a lot early about our squad. Nine of the next 10 games are all against opponents we faced last year. And lastly we travel to Milwaukee in November to take on Marquette which will be a great homecoming for senior Madi Dogs as well as a chance for our other midwest families to catch the Highlanders in their region of the country."
NJIT opens the season with back-to-back home games against Rider (Nov. 2) and Merrimack (Nov. 5) as part of the America East-Metro Conference Challenge.
The Highlanders then head on the road for three consecutive contests, beginning at Marist (Nov. 8) in the America East-Metro Conference Challenge before making stops at Lafayette (Nov. 11) and Dartmouth (Nov. 14).
NJIT returns to Newark to host Delaware State on Nov. 18 before traveling to Marquette on Nov. 21 and Saint Peter's on Nov. 25 to wrap up its pre-Thanksgiving schedule.
December opens with a Garden State matchup against Monmouth on Dec. 2 at the WEC, followed by consecutive road games at Manhattan (Dec. 5) and FDU (Dec. 9).
Monmouth finished the 2025–26 season with 21 wins and advanced to the second round of the WNIT while FDU has won the Northeast Conference title in each of the past two seasons, reached the 30-win mark in 2025–26, and remained undefeated in conference play over the last two seasons.
The Highlanders close out the home portion of their non-conference schedule on Dec. 13 against Sacred Heart as part of a doubleheader with the NJIT men's basketball team.
NJIT concludes its non-conference slate on Dec. 28 with a road matchup at Drexel before turning its attention to America East Conference play.
