Atlantic Sun Conference Game: Kennesaw State at NJIT (Saturday, 4 pm)
A week after the first-ever meeting between the teams (won by NJIT in Georgia, 75-67), the teams will have a rematch, completing the home-and-home regular season A-Sun series.

NJIT begins a three-game homestand having won its last two in a road trip that began at Kennesaw State last Saturday and continued two days later with a 90-78 win at Lipscomb in Nashville.

In the first meeting between the Highlanders and Owls, NJIT got out to a 27-8 lead in the opening half. Kennesaw State fought back into contention and eventually tied the score in the second half.

However, the Highlanders, who, remarkably, have never trailed in any of their A-Sun wins, staved off the challenge and won, paced by 22 points from Damon Lynn, 17 from Rob Ukawuba and 12 apiece from Tim Coleman and Chris Jenkins.

The dynamic backcourt of Yonel Brown (19 points) and Kendrick Ray (15 points) led the way for KSU.

A LOOK at KENNESAW STATE (7-17; 3-5 A-Sun)
Located in Kennesaw, GA, about 25 miles north of Atlanta, KSU has turned to Al Skinner to lead its men's basketball program. Coach Skinner brought a thick resume to the job, having won 385 games in a 22-year career as head coach at Rhode Island and then Boston College, where he is the winningest coach in school history.

A member of the UMass Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as a player that continued into a successful stint in the old ABA and NBA, he is also in the Hall of Fame at URI for his coaching tenure that included two NCAA berths, two NIT berths and three 20-win seasons.

At Boston College, he led the Eagles to six NCAA Tournaments in one seven-year stretch. He won multiple national Coach of the Year awards when BC finished 2000-01 with a 27-5 record and he was twice voted Coach of the Year in the BIG EAST Conference. Four of his Boston College teams finished in the AP National Top 25, with the 2001 and 2007 squads ending at #7.

After losing to NJIT last Saturday, the Owls bounced back with a convincing 75-62 win over USC Upstate to sweep the season series against Upstate.

Kennesaw State team stats and leaders:
Scoring (team 70.7 ppg; -7.3 ppg): Yonel Brown (5-9, Sr; 18.4 ppg); Kendrick Ray (6-1, R-Jr; 18.3 ppg)
Rebounding (team 33.3 rpg; -5.1 rpg): Aubrey Williams (6-6, R-Jr; 6.4 rpg); Ray (5.2 rpg)
Assists: Ray (65)
Blocks: Bernard Morena (6-8, R-Sr; 18)
Steals: Ray (36)
3-pt FGM: Brown (61)

A LOOK at NJIT (13-11; 4-4 A-Sun)
After losing its season opener at then-#2 Kentucky, NJIT rebounded for three wins in a row (at South Florida, and home vs. Boston University and Lafayette).

The Highlanders, who have not won three in a row since, will try for their first such streak in the Atlantic Sun Conference, as they enter Saturday's rematch with Kennesaw State having won back-to-back at KSU and Lipscomb.

NJIT will also aim to recapture the home court success it enjoyed for more than a year on Fleisher Family Court. In the record-setting 2014-15 season, the Highlanders were 15-2 at home, including three wins in the postseason CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT).

The success continued into this season, when NJIT captured its first four home games and went 5-2 in non-conference games in Newark. However, the Highlanders are 1-3 in Atlantic Sun home games, which is puzzling, considering their 3-1 record in A-Sun road games, which is the opposite of conventional expectations.

The three-game homestand that begins against Kennesaw State represents the last three home games on the regular season schedule. NJIT will host Stetson on February 11 at 7 pm and Florida Gulf Coast on February 13 at 4 pm. A Top Four finish in the regular season standings will guarantee NJIT at least one home game in the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament in March.

NJIT team stats and leaders:
Scoring (team 76.5 ppg; +1.4 ppg): Damon Lynn (5-11 Jr; 18 ppg); Tim Coleman (6-5, Jr; 14.3 ppg); Ky Howard (6-4, Sr; 12.8 ppg);
Rebounding (team 35.1 rpg; -1.9 rpg): Coleman (7.1 rpg); Howard (4.5 rpg); Terrence Smith (6-6, Jr; 4.4 rpg)
Assists: Howard (105)
Blocks: Coleman (21)
Steals: Lynn (42); Coleman (36)
3-pt FGM: Lynn (85)
