TEANECK, NJ – The men's and women's track and field team competed at the FDU Patch Invitational held at the Rothman Center on Sunday.
In the 400 meter dash, the Highlanders finished first, second and third with sophomore
Alex Ortega leading the pack running in 50.97, followed by freshmen Chris Prasek (54.72) and
Kadeem Spencer (56.38).
Senior
Jason Poppe and freshman
Dhruv Banerjee finished first and second in the 55 meter hurdles in 8.22 and 8.34 respectively. Poppe also placed first in the high jump (2.00m) and the triple jump (13.20).
In the 55 meter dash junior
Emmanuel Agyen ran in 6.73, good enough for first place while freshman
Ray Walker finished third coming in at 6.91. Agyen also came in first in the long jump with a distance of 6.21m.
In the 4x200 meter relay, Highlanders Agyen, Walker, Ortega and Banerjee placed first with a time of 1:34.70.
Junior
Cristina De Cristofaro and sophomore Delany Silvestri finished first and second in the 55 meter dash finishing in 7.79 and 8.05 respectively.
In the 300 meter dash sophomore
Mary Henshaw finished first with a time of 48.52 followed by teammate freshman
Rhiannon Timpko who placed second and finished in 53.35.
Senior
Alison Schroeder placed first in the high jump with a distance of 1.46m.
In the long jump NJIT finished 1, 2, and 3 with De Cristofaro recording a jump at 4.99m, Schroeder a 4.91m jump and sophomore
Trish Roche a 4.52m jump.
The Highlanders will take a break and return to action on January 16 when they head to Staten Island, NY to participate in the Great Dance Classic.
