PRINCETON, NJ – The NJIT track and field team delivered a strong final showing before the upcoming conference championships at the Torrin Lawrence Memorial and Larry Ellis Invitationals, highlighted by multiple school records and top finishes.
Larry Ellis Invitational - Princeton, NJ
Senior javelin thrower Jason Ballen led the way on the men's side, breaking a four-year old school record with a throw of 61.82 meters to place second overall.
Freshman Caleb Duvelson also made his mark in the record books, setting a new NJIT standard in the men's shot put with a distance of 16.41 meters, finishing 10th.
Distance runner Sarah Van Ornum continued her standout season, breaking her own school record in the women's 1500 meters with a time of 4:33.59.
Freshman Ryan Lang added another record-breaking performance, clocking a school-record time of 1:51.55 in the men's 800 meters.
The men's 4x100-meter relay team of Tyler Passmore, Cassian Holland-Moritz, Robbie Tormo, and Pietro Carpentari turned in a strong performance, placing sixth with a time of 41.98 seconds.
On the women's side, Maria Owens recorded a top-13 finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.52 meters.
William Mitchell rounded out the distance events with a top-17 finish in the men's 5000 meters, crossing the line in 15:03.27.

In the men's 400-meter hurdles, freshman Eatoniel Brown placed seventh with a time of 52.67 seconds. In the women's long jump, Zaidah Lightener recorded a mark of 5.89 meters, earning a top-eight finish.
