HACKENSACK, NJ – The men's and women's indoor track and field teams both participated in the FDU Knights Classic on Sunday.
For the men, sophomore
Blake Brancato placed first in the 5000 meter run clocking in at 15:83, followed by teammates sophomore
Arthur Smith who finished second(16:14.03) and junior
Kevin Ratigan came in fourth (16:45.32).
During the 1000 meter run
Michael Martins led the Highlanders placing fourth finishing in 2:42.90, while senior
Lucas Lamb came in seventh with a time of 2:46.84, and freshman
Liam McSpiritt in ninth running in 2:52.54.
Junior
Jason Poppe placed sixth in the 55 meter hurdles clocking in at 8.43, while freshmen
Joshua Olayinka and
Pritinder Singh finished eighth (8.44) and ninth(8.76) respectively, and junior
Michael Parada came in ninth(9.24).
In the 600 meter run, junior
Norman Hamilton finished in sixth place with a time of 1:26.70. Also participating in the 600m were juniors
Timothy Daudelin and
Gursimran Singh and sophomore
Joe Boyles.
In the field events, sophomore
Kwadwo Banahene and Poppe finished first and second respectively in the triple jump, with distances of 13.23m and 13.06m. The Highlanders had four Highlanders place in the top eight during the shot put, led by senior
Josh Ugwuneri who came in third(11.50m), followed by
David Singer coming in fourth (10.73m), freshman
Erick McNamara in fifth (10.27m), sophomore
Patrick Gavin in sixth (10.13m) and junior
Raj Das who finished eighth (9.20m).
On the women's side, freshman
Trish Roche placed first in both the long jump (4.42m) and the triple jump (9.08m). Freshman
Kayleigh Stark participated in the shot put with a distance of 7.38m.
Senior
Maryam Haque came in second during the 5000 meter run with a time of 20:17.53, while senior Ester Alfaro finished third in the 55 meter hurdles clocking in at 9.32, and
Basma Abukwaik placed seventh in the 1000 meter run finishing in 4:22.80.
Sophomore
Cristina De Cristofaro ran the 300 meter dash in 45.21 placing fourth, while freshmen
Katy Nyby took sixth place, and
Kim Deluca and
Tiaja Harley finished thirteenth and fourteenth respectively.
In the 400 meter dash freshmen
Delaney Silvestri finished fifth with a time of 1:04.63 and
Mary Henshaw placed eighth clocking in at 1:09.89.
Sophomore
Kelli Hesse ran the 600 meter run in 1:42.36 coming in fifth place, followed by senior
Alexandra Arnold who placed seventh (1:46.67), and freshman
Whitney Randolph (1:57.98).
