PRINCESS ANNE, MD
—The contest originally scheduled for 6pm on Wednesday, January 29 has been rescheduled to start at 4pm due to winter storm warning in the Lower Maryland Eastern Shore area which made it necessary to move the time up in order to allow the NJIT Highlanders a chance to return home after the game.

The Highlanders (5-18) are coming off an 84-48 road loss at Penn on January 25, the teams' third straight loss and sixth in the last seven contests. The lone win in the stretch came against Brown at home, 48-43, on January 11.

NJIT is led by graduate student Shakia Robinson, the only double-figure scorer on the Highlander squad, averaging (11.3ppg) while ranking second on the team with (6.2rpg). Robinson has scored in double-figures 12 times this season with three double-doubles.

Uju Nwankwo tops the team in rebounding with (8.8rpg) and blocked shots (36) and second with (8.7ppg) while junior guard Martina Matejcikova is third on the team in scoring with (8.2ppg) and second in blocks with (25).

Maryland Eastern Shore enters Wednesday's contest with a 3-13 overall record, having lost its previous 10 games. The last victory for the Lady Hawks came against Lincoln (PA) on November 26, 71-63.

The game vs. NJIT will be the final non-conference game for the Lady Hawks, as they begin Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play on February 1st.  UMES was predicted to finish ninth in the MEAC Preseason Coaches Poll.

Junior guards Jessica Long (15.8ppg) and Shawnee Sweeney (10.3ppg) lead the Lady Hawks offensively, combining over (26ppg).  Sweeney is among the top shooters in the country, averaging 2.81 three-pointers made, which is 33rd in the country.

Senior forward Shanyce Stewart (9.6rpg) and sophomore center Alexis Udoji (8.1rpg) are the top rebounders on the team, averaging a combined (17.7rpg).  Sophomore forward Ashleigh Claybrooks, standing at 6-foot, is averaging (8.3ppg) off the bench for the Lady Hawks.

This will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
