NEWARK, NJ--Head Coach
Mike Lane has announced the addition of
​​Nyisha Lewis who joins the NJIT women's basketball staff as an Assistant Coach/Director of Basketball Operations, bringing more than a decade of coaching experience at the collegiate and high school levels.
Lewis spent the previous four seasons (2022-26) as an assistant coach with the University of Rochester women's basketball program, specializing with the post players. During her time with the Yellowjackets, Lewis coached two post players, Katie Titus and Abby Gress, who both earned All-American honors. Lewis reconnected with Titus after previously coaching her at Our Lady of Mercy. Titus went on to earn WBCA First-Team All-America honors, D3Hoops.com Second-Team All-America honors, and D3Hoops.com Region III Player of the Year honors. Lewis contributed to the continued development of the program while gaining valuable experience at the collegiate level.Â
Prior to Rochester, Lewis served as the head varsity coach at the School of the Arts (SOTA) in Rochester, New York, for three seasons. During her tenure with the Silver Hawks, she guided the program to two sectional appearances and was named Rochester City Athletic Conference (RCAC) Coach of the Year in 2019.
Lewis began her coaching career at Our Lady of Mercy High School in Rochester, where she spent six seasons as an assistant coach from 2013-19. She helped lead the Monarchs to back-to-back sectional championships in 2016 and 2017.
A 2013 graduate of SUNY Geneseo, Lewis was a four-year member of the Knights women's basketball program and served as a team captain during her senior season. During the 2010-11 season, she helped Geneseo capture the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament.
Beyond the court, Lewis was actively involved in the Geneseo community. She was a member of the Black Student Union and participated in the Geneseo Opportunities for Leadership Development program, earning a Bronze Certificate.
Lewis earned her bachelor's degree in sociology from SUNY Geneseo in May 2013 and a master's degree in social work from Walden University in November 2020.
