Mike Lane joined the 'Field of 68' America East Conference Media Day with Talia Goodman to discuss the upcoming 2026-27 season.
NJIT was selected to finish sixth in the Preseason Coaches Poll.
The Highlanders enter the 2026-27 season following one of the most successful campaigns in program history. NJIT posted a program-record 19 wins in 2025-26, surpassing the previous mark of 18 set during the 2004-05 season.
The Highlanders also made history with their first postseason appearance of the Division I era and their second overall, advancing to the second round of the WNIT after earning the program's first-ever postseason victory with a win at Merrimack.
NJIT established several additional program milestones during the 2025-26 campaign, including a Division I-era best nine non-conference victories and a program-record 10 road wins. The Highlanders also finished with nine America East victories, matching the program record set in 2021-22.
NJIT received 29 points in the preseason poll, ahead of UAlbany (25), New Hampshire (16) and UMass Lowell (8).
Binghamton was selected as the preseason favorite, collecting 60 points and six first-place votes. UMBC followed with 57 points and two first-place votes, while Vermont (48) received one first-place vote. Maine (41) and Bryant (40) rounded out the top five.

NJIT will open its 2026-27 America East home schedule on January 7, welcoming New Hampshire to the Joel and Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center. The Highlanders will then host Maine on January 9.
