BRONX, NY—Sophomore
John Porteous led the NJIT men's indoor track and field team Friday at the Fordham Season Opener held in the Lombardi Center Fieldhouse.
Porteous, the Highlanders sophomore captured the 400 meter dash title with a time of 49.9 and followed up with a first-place finish in the men's 60 meter hurdles with Wagner's Alan Kopeloff, with a time of 8.1. Last season, Porteous won the 2012 Great West Conference Outdoor Track and Field title in the men's 400 meter hurdles.
Junior
Moheb Thomas finished in the top 4 of the men's 800 meter run with a time of 2:00 while senior
Christian Baumbach placed fifth in the men's 3000 meter run with a time of 8:59.
Sophomore
Morgan Akins took third in the men's 60 meter hurdles behind Porteous with a time of 8.5 while
Jason Poppe took third in the men's triple jump with a distance of 12.58m.
