BRONX, NY – NJIT senior captain Umar Saeed led the field at the NJIT Classic from start to finish on Van Cordtlandt Park course Sunday afternoon.

Saeed, an all-East performer in 2005 and 2006 was the course leader in the Highlanders

4-0 sweep of the meet which was scored as a series of dual meets.

NJIT notched wins over Fairleigh Dickinson, 19-43; Hofstra, 27-30; Siena 15-48; and Saint Peter's, 19-44.

Saeed, from Parlin, NJ, covered the 8k course with a time of 27:11.  Following behind Saeed was freshman Brian Mendez placing fifth with a time of 28:15 while classmate Hilton Gooding was the third Highlander to cross the finish line clocking in with a time of 28:58.

Three Highlanders finishing side by side were -- Joe Ju (29:12), Dan Sapienza (29:18) and freshman Ben Singleton (29:25).

NJIT will return to action on October 2 when they travel to Bethlehem, PA and compete at the Paul Short Invitational.
